About The Gardens at DePugh Nursing Center

Philosophy

The Gardens at DePugh Nursing Center is a 5-star-rated skilled nursing facility that is your "home away from home." Our caring staff always extends a listening ear and a helping hand, and we are dedicated to treating each of our residents with the utmost dignity and respect. Our community is unique and neighborhood-style, creating an extended-family environment. We aim to help each resident achieve the highest level of independence and highest quality of life.

Description

The Gardens at DePugh is a small, 40-bed facility located on a historic 2.5-acre site in downtown Winter Park, between Park Avenue and Winter Park Village. Our gated community features a sensory garden surrounded by serene oak trees and a charming gazebo. As a proud member of the Eden Registry, we are a resident-centered facility. We have a commitment to providing a warm, vibrant, and life-affirming care environment where our residents can grow and thrive. We are the proud recipient of the "Quality Award" from the Florida Medical Quality Assurance Institute.

Our services include 24-hour skilled nursing care by licensed nurses and CNAs, as well as a full range of short-term rehabilitation services, long-term care, and hospice care. We specialize in physical, speech, occupational, and nutritional therapies, and also offer hospice and respite care. Our custom-designed therapy services help patients and residents overcome a comprehensive variety of diagnoses and surgeries.

We are partnered with Florida Hospital's Family Medicine Residency program to host three rotating fellows per year. This allows for our residents to have quicker and more frequent access to licensed medical doctors, more one-on-one evaluations, and access to the latest advances in care and medical technology.

Our outdoor Sensory Garden provides a calming therapeutic experience for our patients and residents. The garden features citrus trees, a Tripoli fountain, a multi-surface rehab track, butterfly garden, and an herb garden to engage all five senses and enhance the recovery process.

They were fantastic. Therapy was absolutely great my loved one has improved tremendously since being there. My loved one enjoys the food. Outstanding communication, it has been really great and everyone was responsive. The facility needs to be updated.

It is like a family there. When you walk in everything seems so calm. They seem to work with a cohesive effort. I am grateful they could take my mother. I think the staff is very patient focused and they seem to be aware of the residents needs. The care comes directed at the patient needs rather than the facility demands. To be clear, I think they are the best in the area and I know from experience. I got a call from the rehab doctor on the first day. I liked that she was calling. Communication is very good. They are not overly friendly but they're certainly not too busy to talk or irritated or annoyed. They are good and responsive. Everything looks spotless to me. The food wasn't as good as it was a year ago. I did notice that the portion size was the correct amount and they do have a good variety. They are making an effort, but who ever conceives the dishes doesn't have a skilled pallet.

They are all friendly. It is very clean and immaculate. The room was tidy. The therapists were great. The administrator is awesome. Communication is very good. My loved one seemed to be taken care of and the doctor called me and let me know what was going on. They lost his clothes and I gave them a week worth of clothes and I had his name or initials inside them.
